2025 Pohang AI & Art Week: Exploring the Infinite Possibilities of Artificial Intelligence and Art

What happens when artificial intelligence paints, composes music, or even directs films? Does it threaten human creativity—or expand it?

To explore this provocative question, POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology) is hosting “2025 Pohang AI & Art Week” from June 7 to 14 at Change Up Ground in Pohang.

Under the theme “AI x ART = ∞”, and with a sub-theme focusing on youth and AI in the arts, this event invites the public to engage with the limitless potential that emerges from the creative convergence of technology and art.

Throughout the week, visitors can experience a variety of programs including exhibitions, live performances, and talks by artists and AI-based creators. From AI-generated artworks to interactive performances, the event offers a firsthand look into how emotion and technology can come together in artistic expression. Attendees will also enjoy hands-on activities such as instrument demonstrations, an AI music concert, and media performances, allowing them to experience the evolving boundaries of AI and art.

The exhibition is open to the public throughout the event, while the main programs include:

  • June 7: Talk session and film screening

  • June 13: Talks, AI music concert, and instrument experiences

  • June 14: Talks and a media performance

Talk sessions require pre-registration, but exhibitions are open to all without registration.

The event will feature participation from distinguished artists across various disciplines, including Professor Woo Jung-Ah of POSTECH, visual artist Roh Sang-ho, novelist Jeong Bo-ra, composer Kim Myung-ok, artistic director Lee Byung-hee, and gayageum musician Song Young-sook. Notably, many of the featured artists use AI as a creative tool, offering insights into their unique artistic philosophies and shedding light on the future of AI-driven creativity.

The event is organized by the Mathematical and Data Sciences Research Center (MINDS) at POSTECH, co-hosted by the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences at POSTECH and the Pohang Cultural Foundation’s Art & Technology Convergence Lab, with support from the Pohang City Education Special Zone Project.
