Shinhan Financial Group Recommends New CEOs for Its Subsidiaries; Leadership Changes at Shinhan Life and Shinhan Asset Management

 Kang Byoung-kwan, CEO of Shinhan EZ General Insurance, has been recommended for another one-year term. As the digital insurance industry continues to face broad challenges, Kang—who has led the company since 2022—is expected to provide stable leadership while exploring new business opportunities.

 Kang began his career at Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance before moving to Samsung Group’s Future Strategy Office. He later joined Shinhan Financial Group, where he played a key role in driving new business initiatives and insurance innovation. Born in 1977, he graduated from Dalseong High School and studied mathematics and computer engineering at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH). He also earned a master’s degree in mathematics from New York University.

 After joining Samsung Fire in 2006, Kang served as Deputy Head of Samsung Group’s Future Strategy Office in 2015, overseeing group-wide strategic planning. He was promoted to Executive Manager in 2017 and General Manager in 2020, building deep expertise across the insurance sector. In 2022, he moved to Shinhan Financial Group, where he led the preliminary PAI task force for the acquisition of BNP Paribas Cardif General Insurance. He was appointed CEO of Shinhan EZ General Insurance in June of the same year and has continued to lead the company to date.
