Alumni of POSTECH's Department of Mathematics, Professors Junseok Oh (Jeju National University) and Gyuhwan Jang (Incheon National University), have been awarded the 2024 Korean Mathematical Society (KMS) Domestic Paper Award.
The Korean Mathematical Society (KMS), chaired by Professor Jong-il Park of Seoul National University, will hold its 2024 Annual General Meeting and Fall Research Conference from October 24 (Thursday) to October 26 (Saturday) at Sungkyunkwan University’s Natural Science Campus in Suwon. This event will feature various mathematical research presentations and an awards ceremony.
The award ceremony will be held on Friday, October 25, at 5:30 p.m. at the Sungkyunkwan University Natural Science Campus.
At this year’s conference, Professor Jinseong Park from KIAS’s Department of Mathematics will give a keynote lecture on spectral invariants of geometric operators that encode comprehensive structural information about the geometry and topology of manifolds. Additionally, 280 research papers will be presented, including 18 invited lectures. The event will also feature a popular science lecture by Professor Sang-il Kim from the Department of Mathematics at Pusan National University titled "GeoMath," exploring the mathematical aspects of geoscience phenomena. Further details about the conference can be found on the KMS website.
