The PSSC (POSTECH SIAM Student Chapter) student team, consisting of Eunu Heo from the Department of Mathematics and 37 other members, advised by Professor Jae-Hun Jeong, received the group award in the student category at the POSTECHIAN Award ceremony held during the 37th POSTECH Anniversary Celebration on December 1.

PSSC provides opportunities for POSTECH students to gain diverse experiences in industrial mathematics and applied mathematics. The team aims to explore and discuss how mathematical skills can be used to solve real-world problems beyond the textbook.

Since its formation, the team has engaged in various activities each year, including organizing a Summer Camp, preparing for mathematical modeling competitions, conducting machine learning training, preparing for AI competitions, and reviewing AI research papers. In 2023, they won the Grand Prize at the AI SPARK Challenge AI competition and the Encouragement Award at the Samsung AI Challenge.
