The POSTECH PSSC student team (advised by Professor Jae-Hun Jeong from the Department of Mathematics and Graduate School of Artificial Intelligence) won the Encouragement Award at the 2023 Samsung AI Challenge: Camera-Invariant Domain Adaptation, hosted by Samsung Electronics SAIT and operated by Dacon. The competition, held from August 21 to October 2, focused on developing a domain adaptive semantic segmentation algorithm robust to changes in camera characteristics. The PSSC team, led by Eunu Heo (Department of Mathematics), with team members Dongjin Lee and Sungheon Lee (Graduate School of Artificial Intelligence), received this honor.
The evaluation method consisted of a first-stage leaderboard private score and a second-stage evaluation, where the top 10 teams submitted their code and PPT for verification, followed by a written PPT evaluation by Samsung judges. The award ceremony took place on Tuesday, November 7, at the Samsung AI Forum event at the Suwon Convention Center.
The PSSC student team had previously won the Grand Prize at the 4th Research and Development Zone AI SPARK Challenge (AI Competition) organized by the Research and Development Zone Promotion Foundation in June 2023.
