

On May 20, 2026 (Wednesday), the Department of Mathematics at POSTECH formalized a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Mathematics at Howard University, Washington D.C., marking a significant step forward in international academic partnership.
The visit was organized to strengthen collaborative ties between the two institutions, with a focus on academic exchange and the joint development of future scholars.
Representing Howard University were Dean Rubin Patterson of the College of Arts & Sciences and Professor Kookjin Chun. They were welcomed by Department Chair Professor Jae-Hun Jung and members of the Steering Committee (Professors Jinwoo Jang, Bogwang Jeon, and Minseok Choi) of the POSTECH Department of Mathematics.
The day's program began with a luncheon, followed by the MOU signing ceremony and roundtable discussion, and concluded with a tour of the department and campus. During the signing ceremony, representatives of both institutions exchanged signatures on the agreement and commemorated the occasion with a group photograph. Through this MOU, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to sustained collaboration across a broad range of areas, including joint research and academic exchange.
With this agreement in place, the Department of Mathematics at POSTECH and Howard University look forward to deepening their scholarly ties and expanding their cooperative endeavors in the years ahead.
