The 43rd University Student Mathematics Competition, organized by the Korean Mathematical Society, was held nationwide on November 1, 2025. This annual competition aims to assess the mathematical abilities of domestic university students and discover outstanding talent, and the exam is conducted in two categories, Field 1 and Field 2. The results of this year’s competition were officially announced on December 3, and prize winners were selected in each field.

In this competition, each field awarded a Grand Prize, Gold Prize, Silver Prize, and Bronze Prize. The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 22 at the Korea Science and Technology Center, and all prize money and gifts for the winners will be delivered individually after the ceremony.

The department also achieved meaningful results this year. In Field 1, MinJoon Kim (Mathematics, Class of 2023, advised by Prof. BoGwang Jeon) received a Silver Prize, and Kwangwoon Baek (Mathematics, Class of 2024, advised by Prof.  BoGwang Jeon) received a Bronze Prize. In addition, in Field 2, Hanjun Park (Electrical Engineering, Class of 2021) received a Bronze Prize, demonstrating his strength in that field.

The department has been supporting students’ participation by covering registration fees, transportation, meals, and per diem each year, so that more students can take part in nationwide academic competitions. This year’s awards are not only the result of each student’s individual effort but also an example of the department’s continuous support policies bearing fruit.

Congratulations go to all the students who achieved excellent results in the 43rd University Student Mathematics Competition, and the department looks forward to many more students broadening and developing their mathematical capabilities in the years to come.
