Successfully Holds “2025 The Day of G-Stars × AX Future Vision Declaration Ceremony”

The Gyeongbuk Center for Creative Economy & Innovation hosted the “2025 The Day of G-Stars × AX Future Vision Declaration Ceremony” on November 20 at Handong University’s Genesis Lab. The event was organized to share the center’s outstanding achievements, introduce exemplary companies and university startup teams, and present future directions for discovering and nurturing startups that will lead regional AI innovation.
Approximately 150 participants attended the event, including representatives from the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional Office of SMEs and Startups, Handong University, POSTECH, the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement, as well as local startups and university students.
The event consisted of two main parts: the integrated finals of the G-Star University Startup Competition in Part 1, followed by performance sharing and the Future Vision Declaration Ceremony in Part 2.
Celebrating its 14th year, the G-Star University Startup Competition is a leading youth entrepreneurship program in the Gyeongbuk region, with participation from 20 universities and a total of 4,165 teams to date. In the integrated finals, representative teams selected through each university’s preliminary rounds presented their ideas and participated in Q&A sessions.
As a result of the judging, the awards were presented as follows:
* Grand Prize (Minister of SMEs and Startups Award): POSTECH “EYE-TERRA” Team
* Excellence Award (Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do Award): Handong University “Naega Study” Team
* Outstanding Awards (Head of Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional Office of SMEs and Startups Award): Yeungnam University “LifeWater” Team, Kumoh National Institute of Technology “ELC (Elemental Craft)” Team, Daegu University “WeMove” Team
* Encouragement Awards (CEO of Gyeongbuk Center for Creative Economy & Innovation Award): Sunlin University “Giseungjeon UP,” Daegu Haany University “Bonchoyeon,” Kyungwoon University “Green Convert,” Kyungil University “BAESH,” and Daegu Catholic University “PharmaGirls” Team
A total of 10 teams were recognized for their creativity and growth potential.
During the “AX Future Vision Declaration Ceremony,” the Gyeongbuk Center introduced its outstanding programs, honored startup awardees, and announced its vision for fostering startups in the regional AX (AI Transformation) sector.
Professor Hyung Ju Hwang from POSTECH’s Department of Mathematics and Graduate School of Artificial Intelligence delivered a special lecture titled “The Era of AI Transformation: The Role of Industrial Intelligence and Startups.” She discussed the changes needed for Gyeongbuk’s manufacturing-centered industry ecosystem to evolve beyond AI toward the era of “Physical AI,” along with real-world application cases. Following the lecture, a panel discussion brought together academic, industrial, and research experts to explore collaboration strategies for AX transformation.
