Alumnus Ilhan Ham, CEO, Donates 10 Million KRW Development Fund to His Alma Mater’s Department of Mathematics

[A Successful Entrepreneur’s Gratitude and Generosity: Warm Support for Future Generations]

On June 4th (Wednesday), the Department of Mathematics at POSTECH received another meaningful donation.

Ilhan Ham, CEO of H Energy Co., Ltd. and an alumnus of the Department of Mathematics, generously donated 10 million KRW to support the department’s development. This donation was made through E& Investment Co., Ltd., a technology holding company and accelerator that invests in early-stage startups and ventures. The company personally communicated the donation to POSTECH’s Mathematics Department and expressed anticipation for future collaboration opportunities.

H Energy secured approximately 200 million KRW in initial investment in 2018 through the ‘Tech Innovation Investment Fund,’ jointly established by the POSTECH Foundation and E& Investment. Since then, the company has achieved remarkable growth, a portion of which has been contributed back through this donation. CEO Ilhan Ham stated, “The warm support I received from my alma mater made my growth possible. I hope the Mathematics Department continues to make great strides and that future students can pursue their studies in an even better environment. It is with this hope that I decided to make this donation.”

A donation ceremony was held that afternoon in Room 301 of the Mathematical Sciences Building, where the department chair and faculty members gathered to express their gratitude.

Additionally, E& Investment requested to hold an informational session for department members to introduce their major investment cases and provide insights into the startup ecosystem. This initiative goes beyond a simple donation and is seen as a meaningful step toward fostering practical industry-academia collaboration.

The Department of Mathematics deeply appreciates CEO Ham’s generous support and plans to manage the donation so that it contributes meaningfully to the department’s development and the nurturing of future talent.
