| A Comprehensive Treatment of a Key Theory in Modern Geometry and Mathematical Physics
Professor Oh Yong Geun from the Department of Mathematics at POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology), who is also the director of the Geometry and Mathematical Physics Research Group at the Institute for Basic Science, has published a book titled Lagrangian Floer Theory and Its Deformations through the renowned publisher Springer Nature.
Professor Oh is a leading expert in the fields of symplectic geometry and mirror symmetry, which are actively researched in modern mathematics and theoretical physics. He has been at the forefront of the development of Lagrangian Floer Theory, which explains the mathematical and physical characteristics of these areas.
Lagrangian Floer Theory is a mathematical theory that connects how two shapes intersect in a particular mathematical space and the properties of their intersection points to solve complex physical and geometric problems. A key concept in understanding complex dynamical interactions within this theory is the A-infinity structure.
In this book, Professor Oh comprehensively covers the A-infinity structure and the Lagrangian Floer Theory based on it. The book details complex mathematical theoretical elements, structured to help not only specialists but also newcomers to the field organically understand geometry, analysis, and algebra.
Professor Oh expressed, “Through this book, I hope researchers will gain various perspectives on symplectic geometry and mirror symmetry theories that deal with the dynamical interactions of space and time, leading to new leaps and advancements in their research fields.”
