Title : Motivation on the Geometric Satake Isomorphism
Abstract: The classical spherical Satake isomorphism leaves several conceptual questions unexplained, such as the semisimplicity of the category Rep(\hat{G}), the positivity of the coefficients of the Kazhdan–Lusztig polynomials, the natural appearance of the Langlands dual group (\hat{G}), and the difficulty of generalizing the Satake isomorphism to the Iwahori level.In this talk, we introduce geometric analogues of the objects appearing in the classical spherical Satake isomorphism and explain how the geometric Satake correspondence provides conceptual explanations for these phenomena. If time permits, we will also briefly discuss the historical development of the geometric Satake correspondence.
