Title: Excellent Morse functions (joint with Lisa Traynor)

Abstract: Stable homotopy types are more powerful invariants than chain complexes and homology groups. We will define stable homotopy type invariants for certain objects in symplectic geometry, and sketch the way in which they are more powerful than their classical counterparts. As an application, we exhibit infinitely many new connected components in the space of Thom's excellent Morse functions.
