Abstract : Investigations on the arithmetic of Bianchi groups, or more precisely, the Langlands program for GL(2) over imaginary quadratic fields, go back to the mid 1970s. After staying as an exotic case of the Langlands program for decades, these groups have gained popularity in the recent years. While big strides have been taken in our understanding, there are still many fundamental questions waiting to be tackled, alongside with speculative new directions to be explored.
