Title: Introduction to the mod p Langlands program

Abstract: The mod $p$ Langlands correspondence is a conjectural analog of the

classical local Langlands correspondence. It should still relate Galois

representations and representations of $p$-adic groups, but over a

coefficient field of characteristic $p$, rather than over the complex

numbers.

The simplest interesting case is when the $p$-adic group is $GL_2$.

I will survey some of what is known, some conjectures, and some recent

progress for the mod $p$ Langlands correspondence in the case of $GL_2$.

(I will not assume familiarity with the classical Langlands program.)
