Title : De Giorgi's Minimizing MovementsSpeaker : Dohyun Kwon (University of Seoul)Abstract : The study of gradient flows holds significant importance across various fields, including partial differential equations, optimization, and machine learning. In this talk, we aim to explore the relationship between gradient flows and their time-discretized formulations, known as De Giorgi's minimizing movements scheme. We focus on how De Giorgi's minimizing movements coincide with gradient flows in two different spaces: the space of sets and the space of probability measures called Wasserstein space. Then, we discuss their implications for the well-posedness and long-time behavior of some PDEs, including mean curvature flow and the nonlinear Fokker-Planck equation.

Title : Parabolic PDEs and SPDEs with space-time non-local operatorsSpeaker : Kyeong Hun Kim (Korea University)Abstract : Parabolic equations are related to time dependent natural phenomena. For instance, the classical heat equation with local operators describes the normal diffusion. On the other hand, the description of abnormal diffusion and randomly moving particles with jumps requires the use of non-local operators. In this talk, I will give a short introduction to the parabolic PDEs and stochastic PDEs having non-local operators with respect to time and space variables.

Title : From classical to quantum integrability Speaker : Sylvain Carpentier (Senior Researcher at QSMS, Seoul National University) Abstract : Integrable systems are universal in mathematical physics. Their non chaotic behaviour is due to their large group of symmetries. With my collaborators A. Mikhailov and J.P Wang, we propose a new method of quantization for classical integrable systems. This recipe does not use the traditional language of R matrices and is based on a free associative lift of the system. We will first describe the classical structures relevant to the quantization method, and discuss our joint work with U. Such on W algebras.

Title: Spectral heat content for isotropic Lévy processes. Speaker: Hyunchul Park (SUNY New Paltz) Abstract: The spectral heat content (SHC) measures the total heat that remains on a domain when the initial temperature is one and the outside temperature is identically zero. When one replaces the Laplace operator in the heat equation with generators of Lévy processes, one obtains SHC for those Lévy processes. Recently, the two-term asymptotic behavior of SHC for isotropic stable processes on bounded C^{1,1} open sets was investigated by Park and Song (EJP 2022). In this talk, we generalize their result to cover Lévy processes with regularly varying characteristic exponent with index in (1,2]. The proof provides a unified approach to the study of SHC and applies to both Brownian motions and jump processes. This is a joint work with Kei Kobayashi (Fordham University).

Title : p-adic Heights of the arithmetic diagonal cycles on unitary Shimura varieties Speaker : Wei Zhang(Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA) abstract : We formulate a p-adic analogue of the Arithmetic Gan-Gross-Prasad Conjectures for unitary groups, relating the p-adic height pairing of the arithmetic diagonal cycles to the first central derivative (along the cyclotomic direction) of a p-adic Rankin-Selberg L-function associated to cuspidal automorphic representations. In the good ordinary case we are able to prove the conjecture, at least when the ramification are mild at inert primes, using recent progress on the arithmetic fundamental lemma and arithmetic transfer conjectures. We deduce some application to p-adic version of the Bloch-Kato conjecture. Joint work with Daniel Disegni.

Title : Collaboration between PDEs and machine learning: solving PDEs and learning dynamical systems using neural networks Speaker : Jihun Han (Dartmouth College) Abstract : This talk has two main parts. Firstly, I will discuss a stochastic approach for solving PDEs: the derivative-free loss method (DFLM). I will cover its analysis and highlight its advantages in addressing multiscale problems and perforated domain problems in a non-intrusive manner. In the second part, I will introduce a method for learning in-between imagery dynamics. This method involves integrating PDE models within the latent spaces to enhance learning. Notably, this method exhibits robustness in capturing intricate dynamics, such as rotation and outflow, which are challenging for existing state-of-the-art methods of optimal transport.
