to Arrive :
How to come to Gyeong-Ju Kolon Hotel:
[1] From The Incheon International Airport
(1-A) Ask the information booth in the middle of terminal hall. There may be a direct express bus connection to Gyeong-Ju. That is then the best. The bus fare is not more than 50 Euros (approx 50,000 KRW). Travel time is little more than 4 hours to the Gyeong-Ju Bus terminal. From there, take a taxicab to the Kolon Hotel. The fare is not more then 30,000 KRW (30 euros or under). The driving time is approximately 15-20 minutes maximum.
(1-B) Some take connection flight (domestic) through Gimpo Airport. There are many shuttle buses from Incheon Airport to Gimpo Airport. Driving time is 40 minutes. Fare is 5,000 ~ 6,000 KRW. The buses operate frequently, such as every 10 minutes. From Gimpo Airport, take flight to Ulsan Airport (USN). The take a taxi from there to Kolon Hotel. The fare will be approximately 30,000 KRW and the driving time is approximately 20 minutes.
(1-C) Some take domestic flight to Pohang (KPO) from Gimpo Airport. The taxi fare is approximately 100,000 KRW, and the driving time to Kolon Hotel of Gyeong Ju is approximately 50 minutes. I do not recommend this very highly.
[2] From Busan-Kimhae International Airport
(2-A) Ask the information booth upon arrival about the bus schedule to Gyeong-Ju Terminal. Bus operates every hour, basically. The fare is approximately 10,000 KRW. Driving time is 70-90 minutes to the bus terminal of Gyeong-Ju. Then take a taxicab to Kolon Hotel from there. The fare is not more then 30,000 KRW (30 euros or under). The driving time is approximately 15-20 minutes maximum.
[3] By Train
(3-A) ICN is connected to the subway. But it might be better to take a limousine bus to Seoul Station. It takes 50-70 minutes to the station. Then take trains:
(bullet train + slow train): Seoul to East Daegu by KTX (100 minutes), then take a local train to Gyeong-Ju Station from East Daegu. Then take taxi to Kolon Hotel.
(Saemaeul Train): Seoul to Gyeong-Ju. (4 hours)
[4] By Express bus
Take limousine bus from Incheon Airport (or from Gimpo Airport) to Gang-Nam Express Bus Terminal (Gyeong-Bu-Seon). There, you can purchase a ticket (fare: 30,000 KRW approximately, and use the express bus-line to Gyeong-Ju. Then take a taxicab at the Terminal to the Kolon Hotel.
Miscellany :
1. At the arrival, please check in at the counter located at the ground level lobby (the 3rd floor). The conference floor is the 2nd.
2. Banquet: Everyone is invited. Food and drink will be offered gratis.
3. Reimbursements: will be done on the afternoon of the 3rd day.
4. For each participant, we will try to give meal coupons for that can be used for breakfasts and lunches. For international participants, we will try to give some allowance for suppers. The conference encourages the international participants to go out with Korean students and/or colleagues for supper at restaurants near the Kolon Hotel.
5. Monetary exchange rate:
1 USD = 900~980 KRW , 1 Euro = 1100~1300 KRW
The exchange rate is reasonably uniform throughout the country. You may change money at any bank (including the ones at the airports).
The KRW (Korean Won) is the only currency officially used in Korea. Some shops accept foreign currencies (getting permission from the government), but it is not common.
